MeET OUR founder:
Evan’S story
When I moved to Rwanda in 2023 as 14-year-old, I had come from a high-intensity swimming team, training six days a week. Moving to east Africa, I didn't know what to expect. While attending my first swim meet, I realized how lucky I was. Kids around me were swimming in anything they could find- from basketball shorts to gymnastics leotards- and almost all the kids swam without goggles or caps. To put this into perspective, I had moved with almost an entire suitcase full of my own swimming equipment! As I learned more about swimming in Rwanda, I found out that swimmers of all ages and skill levels who had the same love and passion for swimming as I did were swimming in lakes with little or no training equipment at all. I founded Wavemakers Worldwide to not only try to give these swimmers the opportunity to love and succeed in the sport, but also to connect swimmers around the world, empowering them to share their stories and help support one another.

Manifesto
We are Wavemakers.
We don’t just swim—we make waves that change lives.
We believe in the power of water.
It doesn’t just move us—it transforms us.
We use swimming not just to compete, but to connect.
With every stroke, we ripple across communities, across continents.
Swimming is our tool.
It unites us, connects us, and drives us to break barriers.
We believe access to the water is a right, not a privilege.
Everyone, everywhere, deserves the chance to swim.
Resilience is our engine.
We don’t break down—we break through.
Through burnout, through exhaustion, through the limits of mind and body.
Because we know that mental strength is as important as physical strength.
Service is our fuel.
We don’t just swim for ourselves—we swim for the world.
Every race, every meet, every practice is a chance to give back.
To help others rise and find their own strength in the water.
WAVEMAKERS WORLDWIDE
We are the antidote to burnout.
To over-training, overworking, overthinking.
Swimming is not just about speed, it’s about staying power.
We build resilient minds, unshakable hearts, and determined bodies.
Because we know balance isn't a luxury—it's a necessity.
We will plan. We will train. We will elevate.
From grassroots events in underserved areas to international competitions,
We bring world-class standards to every corner of the globe.
Where there is no access, we will create it.
Where there is no opportunity, we will build it.
We are united by one goal.
To change the world through swimming.
To leave the sport, the community, and the planet better than we found it.
To use sport as our voice. A voice that’s loud, proud, and unstoppable.
We are more than athletes. We are leaders. We are changemakers.
We are Wavemakers Worldwide.
Our PURPOSE:
What we do
We host fun and impactful events where swimmers can not
only have fun but also make an impact through swimming.
Here are some of the things we do:
Wavefest is a swim-a-thon style fundraiser where
participants gain pledges per lap, then swim as many laps as
they can and then go collect pledged donations.
Equipment drives where we collect used equipment that is
then distributed to swimmers who need it.
Merchandise sales that help fund our events.
All this to help change a swimmer’s life by providing them
with essential training swimming equipment.
